LATE NIGHT WARDENSVILLE RETURNS!
LUCKY JOHNSON LISTENING HOUR PRESENTS
AUG 27, 6:30-8:30PM, no cover
We are very excited to welcome Rebecca Wudarski to our Listening Hour stage! Based out of our neighboring mountain town of Thomas, WV, Rebecca is a full-time artist and musician. Her current music project is a one-woman-band where she concurrently plays guitar, bass drum, hi-hat, and sings. In this configuration she creates an indie-folk sound with original songwriting, and traditional folk songs re-imagined by smashing together elements of swing, indie rock, modern pop, and old-time. Rebecca has cultivated a unique sound produced with a high level of musicianship, energy, creativity and emotion. Her new album PALIMPSEST is out now, and you can head over to her website to hear her music.
NO DEPRESSION magazine included Wudarski in a recent article, A Baker's Dozen of Upcoming Albums, Through the Photographer's Eye on "outstanding new roots music releases heading our way in the next few weeks." --> "Last, but certainly not least, I turn my attention to two local favorites from my home state, West Virginia. First, Rebecca Wudarski has just released Palimpsest, her third album where she continues to explore and reimagine old-timey, traditional folk songs by smashing together swing and just the right amount of indie rock. All of this comes on a voice that belies her young age. She's a one-woman band, playing guitar (acoustic and electric), bass drum, and hi-hat. She's also a painter who usually takes art work with her, not just to see but to give the venue an ambience, as if to visually communicate as well as musically. Her songs can be streamed on her website. She can also be regularly heard live at the Purple Fiddle in Thomas, West Virginia -- one of my favorite music venues."
